Ultimate Surf & Skate Tips for putting on your wetsuit within a minute!

Video at the end of the blog post, but please read before watching

- Nicholas from Ultimate Surf & Skate

You've just spent a good amount of time in the car, with your mates, driving to "spot X".
You arrive, and it's PUMPING.
Can't wait to get your wetsuit on, quick wax of the board, and head out!

But... you end up taking 10 minutes putting on your wetsuit!
Your mates are telling you to hurry up as they have to put the keys in the padlock, you're stressing out, starting to sweat a little even - this further makes it harder to get your wetsuit on.
10 minutes later you've finally got it on, your mates are a bit annoyed, you're apologising, you forget to put your sunscreen on, you forget to chuck your jandals in the car...

The stoke level drops just a touch - what a nightmare!

OR

You're in our shop, we give you 3 wetsuits to try, on a hot day.
After putting on wetsuit number one, it doesn't fit quite right, you take it off, you're sweaty.
Wetsuit two, harder to put on as you're sweaty, struggle more and it gets worse.
Wetsuit three? Don't even bother.

_________

How do you get your wetsuit on quickly, and correctly?

Well, believe it or not, a lot of us have got wetsuit fitting down to a fine art and can get it on within a minute! Yes, even the thicker wetsuits.

How do we do it?
The most important thing is to make sure your wetsuit is well fitted on the lower part of your body BEFORE attempting to put the top half on. If your wetsuit is still over your heels, and the kneepads below your knee, you're just fighting the wetsuit putting your top half on.
Follow the below key points, as well as watch me in my undies and socks putting on a wetsuit within a minute (actually a bit more than a minute, as I spend a few seconds here and there explaining and showing a few bits and bobs).

_________

Key notes -

1. Make sure you pull the cuffs to above your ankle bones and wrist bones - then feed all the excess wetsuit up so there's no bunching.
2. Grab large chunks of your wetsuit when pulling / adjusting. This minimises the chance of damaging your suit.
3. Make sure your wetsuit is well adjusted to your waist before attempting to get your arms in, you want to get your bottom half well fitted first.
4. Wetsuits are meant to be TIGHT and ever so slightly uncomfortable. Some wetsuit brands / models have very tight necks - this is good, as this minimises water flushing in through the neck.

Important - Never buy a wetsuit online unless you're replacing your wetsuit with the same brand and model. ALL wetsuit brands and models fit very differently from each other.

It is always best to go to your local surf shop and get a knowledgeable staff member to fit you to a correct fitting wetsuit - and that's us!
We've been selling nothing but Surfboards, Wetsuits, Accessories and Skates for over 18 years.

We also offer a free exchange service when buying online - you just pay for the shipping fees!

Come visit us in our new MASSIVE showroom and we'll make sure you're well fitted in a proper fitting wetsuit, without the fuss!

Cheers and most importantly, HAVE FUN and ENJOY YOURSELF.
